Water Safety

Layers of protection & tips

Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under age 5, and the leading cause of death for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

effective supervision

The most critical line of defense is adult supervision. No level of aquatic skill can replace active supervision. If your child is ever missing, check the water first.

window and door locks

Install locks and alarms on all windows and doors leading to the pool area to prevent accidental access and reduce drowning risks.

alarms

Ensure that all doors and windows leading to the pool are locked and equipped with alarms.

pool fences

Install a four-sided fence with self-locking gates. Make sure the fence is positioned at least 3-5 feet away from the edge of the pool.

survival swim lessons

A moment’s inattention does not have to cost a child his life. ISR’s Self-Rescue training is an added layer of protection, teaching your child water survival skills in a completely safe environment.

awareness & education

Teaching children and adults about water safety, the importance of supervision, and basic rescue techniques can significantly reduce the risk of accidents.
